We got it first!

Just got off the phone to our second favourite rep Ben Bodilly, who has infomed me that we are to be one of only four stores in the U.K to receive the very first drop of the much talked about Supra Footwear. If you haven't heard of Supra yet, you will soon. With team riders Tom Penny and Erik Ellington and some super hot shoes using premium materials we reckon these will fly. Focus Edinburgh will be stocking the four models above in very limited quantities some time in the next week or two and we'll also be having a competition to win some Supra prizes. Give us a bell on 0131 229 9009 or e-mail us here

Oh what a night!

It was the Oban skate jam Satuarday past with many a head in attendance. No format just skate one of the best mini's you're ever likely to. Benson nailed a huge f/s stale to board and in so quick, Div and Big Mark tore the ramp apart, kickflip f/s pivots and attacking the flat bank to vert wall. Oban local and ramp builer Stuart Orr has the biggest bag of tricks all done with effortless style. Best trick for the case of beer would have gone to him if only he rode out of a b/s 540 mute but Div took it with a f/s slasher on the top of the vert wall.
We all then travelled to Easdale Village Hall on the Isle of Seil for gigs from Uncle John & Whitelock, Foxface and the Wallopers. It was the first ever gig from the Wallopers, not too many songs so they played the crowd's favorite Push Mongo twice! You were either brave or stupid to get involved in the mosh pit with Big Mark. Poor Sprocket got flung about like an empty bin bag. Foxface calmed things down with some smooth tunes then Uncle John rocked the rafters. Super tight set, the place went off. I'm sure far from now that night will be talked about, perhaps like folklore.

More RIP ing

Love singer Arthur Lee dies at 61

Arthur Lee, singer and guitarist of the influential 1960s band Love, has died in Memphis at the age of 61 following a battle with acute myeloid leukaemia.

The multiracial band recorded three groundbreaking albums that fused rock, blues and psychedlia - the self-titled Love, Da Capo and Forever Changes.

A really sad day- these are some of my favourite albums ever! Ben Leyden told me a friend of his used to listen to 'Forever changes' every morning for 6 years. One of the best albums ever made. I'm listening to 'Da Capo' right now.

I've just been reminded that i hung out with him for a bit in Edinburgh. Serious ruler.....

His voice is loud in the shop right now...RIP brother.

Magee or not magee

Here's the low down from the Blueprint demo this week.

What a radical demo it was.....

The whole team showed that they were all very capable of gripping their own boards, trading product for product, watching the new Transworld DVD over and over, going to the shops and getting back in one piece.

An excellent display of what to do on a rainy day. I told this fellow on our right- 'It serves you right for putting RAIN on all the new boards....'

He replied- 'I bet you've wanted to say that all day.'

I had, so I did. Haha.

More photo's.

3 of the best....

1. William Elliot Whitmore playing at Mono tonight for free. Foolish to miss it.
2. This months Sidewalk with Focus starring in 'RE-TALES'
3. This months List magazine with a Focus 'What to do in Glasgow for free' article.

Heros not Zeros

Due to Keegan Sauder and Conhuir Lynn being injured the Zero demo was down to a two man show featuring John Rattray and guest Girl rider Rick McCrank. John nailed this huge flip over the corner of the spine whilst Rick nailed 360 ollies, 360 flips, nollie flips, switch pop shuvit's all down the big three. Rick crooked the fence at the edge of the park but here's a noseslide instead.

R.I.P Black Mark Skate Store

Another sad day for Scottish skateboarding as our good friend Mark over in Dunfermline has closed his doors for the last time. Black Mark was an inetgral part of the Fife skate scene and his shop will be sadly missed. Respect mate and good luck for the future.

We'd also like to pass on our respect to Stu at DB Boardstore in Kirkcaldy who also shut down recently.
