Wednesday the 12th December 2005 was the date we opened our second store over in Glasgow and Wednesday the 12th December 2007 marked the end of that era with the superb art exhibition we hosted courtesy of some of Glasgow's finest artists. The night was attended by over 200 heads who witnessed artwork from Gazmac, custom sneaks from Klingatron, models by Supertiny and custom toys by Dinosauria. Thanks to everyone who attended, thanks to Nike, Carhartt, Coors and biggest props go to Big Al who made the whole thing possible.

View more pictures from the night here.

And don't forget to visit our brand new Glasgow store at 83 Queen Street.

An end of an era.

Last Sunday marked the end of an era when my good friend and business partner of the last 7 years Stewart Rattray said farewell to Focus. As is tradition in Scotland, consumption of alcohol was required and a gathering of friends took place.
The night went to plan until I managed to crack my head open on a road sign, with a little help from new shop girl Hannah, which required a visit to A&E and 12 stitches. Thankfully it won't spoil my good looks and hasn't caused any lasting damage.
Expect to see Stew out and about selling Elwood clothing to the UK's finer skate shops and all that's left to say is good luck mate and thanks for the memories.

War Of The Roses

It's that time of year again for the infamous War Of The Roses weekend. This year Skateboard Scotland have taken over the reigns and are organising the transport to get you down there.

Ali sent me the details which you can read below. You can pay your monies at the shop to resevre your place.

Skateboard Scotland are organising a couple of Mini buses to go down the the War of the Roses this year to be held at Interact Park in Burnley and The Works in Leeds. We are only organising the transport so you will have to pay yourselves into the parks (a tenner for each day). The cost is 23 quid to cover the diesel and van hire. This fee must be paid up front to ensure a place on one of the buses. The places are available on a first come first serve basis.

Itinerery:

9.30am Saturday 27th October
Buses will be leaving Focus in Edinburgh

13.00 Get to Interact and shralp til ya hurt.

22.00 Find somewhere to crash. Bring your tents as there will not be much space to sleep in the van and we cannot sleep in the park this year.

11.00 Sunday 28th October
Mission it to Leeds for next day. We hope to be back in Edinburgh for about 11pm (maybe 12pm) on Sunday.

Get in touch with Focus to book your space and pay your fee.

Looking forward to getting down for the session.

Alatamont.

Just had delivery of our very first drop of Altamont Apparel. Well it actually arrived a week ago, but I've just got back from Milan so as far as I'm concerned it's just arrived. Ok?

Anyway, Altamont is the brainchild of Andrew Reynolds and is one of the freshest clothing lines to come from the skateboard world for some time. Expect to see it in our Edinburgh store and online in the next few days.

T-shirt origami

Bit slack with the old blog updates this month but hey ho.

By my calculations each of us in the shop could save ourselves nearly 2 and a half minutes a year by using the t-shirt folding technique above.

VIrtual John Rattray

Mr. Rattray has an interview up on popular games & gadgets website IGN.

If you're wondering why he's appearing there of all places, it's part of the promotion for a videogame he's appearing in, the imaginatively titled 'skate'. The game's out on September 21st, and looks amazing, mostly due to the fact that it takes a more realistic approach to things than the THPS series, and is reminiscent of the Amped series of snowboarding games.

There's a demo up on Xbox Live as we speak to keep you busy until the 21st.

Sign this petition!

Someone in their infinite wisdom has decided that over 18's should not be allowed to use the new London Bridge skatepark as it will protect younger skaters from "grooming".

Quite possibly one of the daftest things I've ever heard to be honest.

If you feel that this insane rule should be scrapped sign the online petition right here.

Cheers!

Epicly Scottish min!!

Patrick O Dell's online tv show Epicly Latered features John Rattray with a special guest appearance from Mr Stu Graham and keep your eyes peeled for some other exiled Scots. Very entertaining.
